Providing a site that is accessible to as many people as possible is something we feel strongly about. From our writing style to the page layout – we’ve tried to include as much best practice as possible.

Browser compatibility

We support Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 7 and modern web-standards compliant browsers. These include:

• Firefox 3.5
• Safari 3
• Opera 10

Due to the limitations of Internet Explorer 6, the user experience has been toned down slightly for users of this browser. However you can still use our site using IE6.

The list above is not exhaustive – other browsers, including some mobile browsers, that support web standards will also render our pages correctly.

Website build standards

• Built using progressive enhancement techniques. This means all the content is accessible when JavaScript and CSS are turned off.
• Designed to allow full screen viewing using 1024×768.
• Provides structural elements (eg headings) before navigation blocks to signpost the navigation type (global or local).
• Uses semantically correct markup.
• Writes page titles in this order: Page name – Website. This is helpful for bookmarking.
• Informs the user when opening a new window.
