Adventures in recruitment marketing and employer branding
So what's the story?
Last night saw the cream of the industry’s crop gather at the Grand Connaught Rooms for the glitz and glamour of the 30th CIPD Recruitment Marketing Awards. With five short-listed nominations (including one for the prestigious Agency of the Year title), team Hodes were in high spirits.
Following a few glasses of champagne and the chance to catch up with friends and clients, the masses were ushered into the grandest of the Connaught Rooms for the main event. Hosted by the impressively moustachioed Rufus Hound, things got off to a humorous start, with recruitment-related quips galore. Then it was down to business – namely the awards themselves.
The Army and Skive trounced the competition in several categories, for their excellent, big budget “Start Thinking Soldier” work. Beyond that, there was a real spread of winners, although several key agencies were notable by their absence. And although it was TCS who eventually scooped up the Agency of the Year accolade, we were more than a little chuffed to walk away with a shiny black trophy in the Outdoor Recruitment category.
This was for a video advert produced specifically for ATMs, recruiting special constables on behalf of Hertfordshire Constabulary. The judges had nothing but praise for the work, labelling it “something special” and a great way of reaching a captive audience using outdoor media – comments that saw us popping corks long into the wee small hours.
